People usually claim
complete faith in God.
One such person once approached saint Ramdas
and said, ‘Please accept me as your disciple. I have complete
faith in God and in you too. If you want you can check me.’
saint Ramdas said nothing but took that person to a well over which a
branch of tree was hovering.
saint Ramdas asked the person to climb the
tree and hang onto the branch hovering on the well. When the person
reached the middle of the branch right above the center of the well,
saint Ramdas said,’Leave the branch, now!’ The person wouldn’t
do that because it meant a sure fall in deep well to death. He did
not have faith that saint Ramdas will protect him or God will protect him.
In reality, he relied on his own support. To have faith in God is to
rely on God only with full confidence that he is present in each and
every particle. God protects them who rely only on him and not on
anyone else nor on anything else including any personal strength.
Similarly we rely on
support on money, power, relations, self strength but we claim that we have faith in
God. Faith in Guru or in faith in God would mean obeying their commands without
having any doubt about the outcome.
