Surdas was living with a prostitute. He left everyone from his family. His attachment to her was very strong. There was death anniversary of his father. But Surdas was not interested to go for the death anniversary ritual. The prostitute shouted at him, 'Mr. at least today you should go and perform the rituals.' Surdas realized he was crestfallen.
Ladies was his attraction. He pierced his eyes with sharp edge and became blind. He then worshiped Krishn and ultimately succeeded in seeing Krishn.
Krishn did not appear just after Surdas began the spiritual practice of devotion. But Krishn did take care of his devotee. Once Surdas was moving through a forest and being blind, he could not see a well and fell in it. Krishn went there and gave him hand to came up. Surdas realized that the savior was Krishn and tried to hold his hand firmly. But Surdas was no match for Him in strength. Krishn freed himself from the grip and went. At this point Surdas Challenged Krishn,
You are going away getting out of my grip,
If you are a real man, I challenge you to go out of my heart!.
(It is not possible for you leave my heart.)
When Krishn appeared before him, he expressed wish to see Radha. When both appeared, Surdas was in divine ecstasy. Rahda-Krishn offered Surdas his lost vision. But Surdas refused that he did not wish to see this dirty world after seeing the divine form of God.
