Let us see the third relationship, Soul to God. Soul to God relationship has sound base in that Soul resides in God while one Soul does not reside into another soul. God provides basic infrastructure for activities of soul. Even the life of soul is derived from God. That is, if soul is regarded as body, God is its life. Soul would be without any life without association of God, just as body becomes dead without association of soul. Let us try to see different aspects of this relationship.

1. God supports soul.
2. Soul resides in God.
3. God imparts liveliness to soul.
4. God, through one of his powers known as Maya, provides Body, Mind and Intellect to soul.
5. Soul imparts liveliness, which he received from God, to his Body, Mind and Intellect to perform their functions.
6. Because God makes soul with full of life, God is Father and Mother of Soul.
7. Because God keeps constant contact with soul, God is only true friend of soul.
8. Because God takes all care of soul like a husband does for his wife, God is the only romantic partner of Soul. It is also said that anything that is pleasing in this world derives its pleasant nature from God. Thus God is the base for any kind of happiness that soul gets.
9. God keeps all records of past actions, present actions, their effects and execution of effects. This enables soul to strive for its betterment. As without such scheme, soul would never advance in any direction.
10. God helps soul to purify the mind.
11. God makes soul permanently happy once the heart is purified.
You will thus notice that Soul to God relationship is much superior to Soul to Soul relationship. It is free from all disadvantages of Soul to Soul relationship on following accounts.

1. God has reservoir of infinite happiness and hence does not expect anything from Soul. Soul is in search of such happiness, which is available with God. God wants to make soul happy and Soul wants to be happy. Thus, there is no clash of motives. Therefore, this relationship will never end, once rightly established through the pure heart.

2. God is with soul for 24 hours a day and 365 days a year through out lifetime of soul and in all lives. Thus, God can take complete care of Soul anytime, anywhere. Even after the death, God does not leave soul alone of its own. God is with Soul all the time.

3. Since God makes a note of all ideas of soul, there is no question of deception. Soul never has to worry whether his efforts will be paid off or not. God does not depend on witnesses or circumstantial evidence for giving judgment. The court of God decides everything from the first hand information, received from every mind. No one can deceive God from outward actions. You, therefore, are confident that your efforts will receive appropriate award at appropriate time.

You would ask, "What about relieving from sufferings?" God can do that provided proper access is given to him to different parts of mind. To give him access, all that you have to do is to remember him. In fact, on total purification of heart, God burns all your past sins and other deed so that you are set free of their bondage and effects.

However, there are some limitations in Soul-God relationship. They are-

  1. God is not visible. He does not communicate with you as any other human-being does. Therefore, many times you need to take decisions according to what you feel right and most of the time mistakes are committed owing to lack of proper guidance. It is true that if you constantly remember God, he WILL take care of your well being, but it is almost impossible for a beginner to remember God continuously. And the moment you forget him, you are on your own, prone to make only wrong decisions.

2. He does not explain you what he meant when he wrote different scriptures. The interpretation is left to you and because you don't have divine vision or intellect, your interpretation is ought to be wrong.
