AS stated earlier power too has the same effect of inflating ego.
When God Ram was sent to forest stay by his step mother, he met Sugreev, who was banished from the kingdom of Kiskindha. Sugreev told Ram that he was expelled by his elder brother Vali on some misunderstanding.
Vali was extremely strong and powerful. Sugreev knew that he could never win against him. He promised Ram that he would help searching Sita, kidnapped wife of Ram, if Ram helped him gaining entry into his kingdom.
Ram told Sugreev to challenge Vali for wrestling and said, 'I will kill Vali when he fights with you.'. So Sugreev went and challenged Vali. Wrestling began. Sugreev was beaten severely. And came back defeated.
Ram said,'You both looked so alike! I could not distinguish between you and Vali. Now, you tie a red cloth and then go for fight again.' So did Sugreev and Ram killed Vali. Sugreev became king of KIskindha and enjoyed all powers of King. He then went back on the promise given to Ram. The power made him egoistic and did not send anyone to search Sita.
Ram sent his brother Laxman to check what was the the matter. When Laxman went to Sugreev, door attendants asked him his identity. The report was given to Sugreev. Sugreev asked,' Who is Laxman?'. Laxman sent reply that he was brother of Ram. On this, Sugreev asked 'Who is Ram?' See how the intellect is rotten to the core because of possession of power..
Laxman lost his clam and took his bow in one hand and put the arrow on it and aimed at Sugrev and said,'Need I tell you who is Ram?' Sugreev came to his senses and said, 'Oh! Yes! I now remember the promise. I will begin the search operation soon', and went ahead to work out modalities.
The point is what HIndu says ' There is no person born on the earth who has dominance (by virtue of money, power, talent, skill, beauty or anything) and who is not intoxicated because of it.' And the result is such persons go scoffing at the very existence of God and his rules governing the after life.
