In short, the identification of 'I' with physical
body, puts the person in the cage. The bird inside the cage, the
soul, has not been given attention. All the care is taken of the
cage. The body is beautified, it is given beautiful clothes, looks
become important, bodily comforts take the center stage. Money all of
sudden assumes great importance because all body comforts can be
bought with money. The total attention is diverted from the bird to
the cage.
However, no bird can be happy even in a golden
cage decorated with diamond, pearls and jewels. Bird wants freedom
from cage. It wants its happiness which not there in the cage.
In exactly similar way although after having all
physical comforts, no one happy in real sense. Boredom, tension, urge
to have more sexual satisfaction, urge to have more delicacies to
satisfy tongue, urge to seek praise from others, urge to visit
beautiful places on the rise. There is no end to desires and
therefore there is no end to the problems arising out of efforts
needed to satisfy those desire.
The bird - the soul - that resides in body is not
happy with the cage of the physical body. It wants freedom. It wants
its own happiness that is divine. Attention must be paid to the soul
and not to the physical body. Thus the first goal of infinite life is
not far away if identification of 'I' is made with Soul..
