Sufferings are part of life. King or beggar! It is
a part of the destiny. Both of them can love God. There is only one
solution. To treat whatever comes to you as grace of God.
God who is all knowing and who is full of mercy
cannot do anything wrong to anyone. Sufferings are outcome of one's
own past misdeeds. Sufferings itself cannot purify heart. One can
definitely say that sufferings will end one day as no such state can
continue till time infinite. A day will be there when soul will
experience joy as effect of good deeds of past lives.
If sufferings are coupled with remembrance of God
with full realization that sufferings are outcome of God's
compassion, which is there in every happening, one can take long
strides in the direction of God.
Sufferings cannot make you qualify for the
experience of divine bliss because purification of heart is what
needed for such experience and if someone suffers without remembering
God, heart never gets purified and’ therefore, one cannot have
experience of divine bliss. Divine bliss is something different. The
problem is all our desires are selfish because the source from which
they arise is Maya. Abstinence is effective only if it is
supplemented with desire to see divine vision of God. Otherwise,
after some point, mind falls back on material objects in search of
happiness.
