Thus either due to own wrong doing or due to supporting the person who does wrong doing or attaching mind through love or hatred to the person who does wrong doing, soul suffers.

There is story in scriptures about how misplaced attachment leads to inferior life.

Jad-Bharat was a saintly person and he had spent all his life in spiritual practice and reached a very high spiritual state. One day while he was taking bath in a river, a doe ran through the water of the river listening to the roaring of a lion. She was pregnant and the offspring fell into the river while she crossed the water. Jad-Bharat pick up the baby deer and took it to his ashram (monastery) .

But instead of doing duty, he developed attachment to the baby deer and kept it always with him. When he was about to die, his mind was absorbed in the thoughts of the deer. He called all his disciples and asked them to take care of the deer and died.

He had to don the deer body in the next life. However, because of his advanced spiritual stage, he remembered his previous life and after the deer life, he again got the birth as human. And in that life he acted a mad person so that he would not be acceptable to anyone to avoid any unwanted attachment. And through spiritual practice he attained his ultimate goal of eternal bliss.

Thus attachment to wrong persons can lead you wherever such persons head - mostly hell. Attachment comes through love and hatred. It is essential to avoid hatred to any one and love only God and genuine saint so that spiritual advancement would be automatic.
