About
Shuk Dev who narrated Bhagwat to Parikshit:
Ved Vyas arranged Ved in for parts, Rig Ved,
Yaurved,, Sam Ved and Atharv Ved.
He had a wife named Pingla. Pingla
was pregnant and Shuk Dev was in her womb.
Shuk Dev did not come out
of the womb for twelve years fearing that once out Maya would cast
her spell on him and he would forget God and would be deprived of his
spiritual happiness..
Shuk Dev was a great scholar of Ved. He would
correct others on reciting any hymn wrongly..
Ved Vyas asked him, “who are you and why you
are not coming out of the womb?”
Suk Dev replied from
inside,”If you would assure me that Maya will not cast her
spell over me, I will come out not otherwise.” Ved Vyas, who
was one of the incarnation of God, assured him so..
Shuk Dev then came out of the womb and directly
started walking towards forest..
Ved Vyas rushed after him all the
while calling ‘O! My son’ ‘O! My son’ But
Shuk Dev did not turn a hair.
While following Shuk Dev, Ved Vyas came
across a lake in which some fairies from heaven were bathing naked.
As soon as they saw Ved Vyas, they rushed for clothes .
Seeing this
Ved Vyas said, “When my young son went before me, you didn’t
feel ashamed and for me, who is so old and like your father, you
dressed hurriedly?’”
