After killing demon Hiranyakasyapu, Bhagwaan Narsimh said to devotee Prahlaad,
'I am very much pleased with you. Let everything good happen to you. Let me know wish. I complete every of your demand. If I am not pleased I cannot be seen. But once anyone seeks me he becomes extremely peaceful because all his burning inside vanishes. I am the one who can fulfill all of your wishes. All ascetics try to please me.'

Listening to this Prahlad, who was selfless devotee of God, smilingly replied,
'O! Lord! I am attached to worldly pleasures from beginning of my life. Please do not allure me into them. I am afraid of them because they are the cause of sufferings and bondage and hence I have taken solace to you.

The reason behind your asking me to ask for boon seems to test my devotion. Because the one who wants satisfy his wish from his master is no servant and the one who fulfills wish of his servant to get served is no master.

The give and take relation is business. I am your selfless servant and you are my master who does not demand anything from me. I am not the servant like the one who serves King for selfish motives..

If at all you want me to grant a boon then bless me with such a heart that will not desire anything from you. Because when desire arises in the mind it destroys senses, body, mind, intellect, life, courage, religion, modesty, power, aura, memory and truth. (Quite a long list!!) Not only that if some one gets rid of desires he achieves Godly form.

This is selfless love for God.
