This issue that Parikshit raised needs to dealt with in more depth. This is where most of the materialistic persons make mistake and attribute materialistic desires to God.
We know that when police kills a criminal, he is rewarded. But when if anyone kills other person, he gets hanged. Action of killing is same but one for the benefit of others while the other is with selfish motive. Thus crime is not the physical action but it is the motive.
A skilled surgeon inserts the knife into the stomach to cure the patient. His motive is to bring relief to the patient. If a criminal claims that he too pierced knife into the stomach of the victim and therefore his action should be treated at par with that of the surgeon and hence he should be pardoned, court would put the blame on the motive.
Doctor can administer poison in appropriate quantity but killer, who kills others with administering poison cannot escape the punishment on the basis of similar actions.
All the actions of God and saint are essentially for the benefit of the soul. The reason? They have nothing to gain because God is happiness in person which is sought by every one while saints are the person who have acquired this very happiness. In other words they have God with them. In fact, they need to suppress this happiness to look into the problems of the other souls. They are like surgeon who see the condition of mind of others and take appropriate action to purify the mind of the concerned person. Thus their all actions are motivated by desire to make others happy. In addition, because they have the perfect knowledge acquired through divine power of God, there cannot be any mistake in their work. They can never never go wrong.
