‘Never be friends
with mind’, says Lord Rishbh. Once some demigoddesses of
special powers, with which miracles can be performed, approached him.
Lord Rishbh asked,’Why
are you here?’
‘In your service
Sir!’
‘Who called you?’
‘We came of our
own because you are a devotee and we would like to have opportunity
to serve you.’
Lord Rishabh shouted,
‘Stay away, Stay away!’
Under the influence of
these demigoddesses soul gets powers to perform miracles like
becoming so heavy that no crane can lift, becoming so light that can
be blown away by a small current of air, vanishing into the air from
any spot, telling the exact thinking of others mind and so on. With
the possession of such powers soul feels as if he is God himself and
goes on displaying his powers to all. One day all powers cease
because they have quantitative limitations being under the finite
realm. Thus soul loses from both the fronts, his spiritual progress
is reversed and whatever he gained in the form of celestial powers is
also gone. These powers are like a wife who collude with her lover to
kill the husband. No one would like to have a servant who kills the
master.
But, mind is extremely
fond of all these powers. Which shows that interests of mind are in
direct opposition to interests of soul.
Therefore it is said
that ‘Never be friends with mind.’
