The first query - what is the base for money?. You would say..'Service, Business etc'. No, that is just the source of money in this life. The point is why source of money is not available to all? Because the income depends on the donations you make in the past lives.

Hindu says '10% of your money must be donated. Those who do not donate this much amount are not given proper money sources in the next life and hence face poverty.' The proverb works - money begets money. Donate money this life and expect beautiful returns in the next life.

However if you want spiritual benefit out of your donations, you must donate money to the real spiritual person who has acquired God. He might have his own organization that accepts money and puts into charitable activities like free distributions, free hospitals, free schools and so on. Donations through his organization will return you divine benefit while donations to other charity which lack spiritual support will return you just material benefit which is of no use as far as the goal of seeking infinite happiness is concerned. Donations can even lead to hell if given to people who engage themselves in illegitimate activities. Again beware of fake saints and their fake organization. Fake saint is one who claims to have seen God but in reality he is far away from God. Genuine saint is the one who has seen God.

To seek spiritual benefit out of your money you need to donate it to a genuine spiritual charity which is will ensure divine return.
