Many people have one question, ‘India is the most theist country in the world. You will find many temples in a single city. Most of the houses have a separate room for God or a decorative wooden case where idols are kept. Huge religious celebrations are carried out on many occasions. But, there is extreme corruption too. Why?’

The answer is the worship or devotion that is observed in India is mainly that of senses. People worship God by hand. They chant name of God by tongue. They hear devotional discourses and devotional songs by ear. They will do religious pilgrimage by foot. Not only Hindus but even Muslims or people belonging to other religions too do everything by senses which means mind does not concentrate on God. Mind does not try to visualize God. Since God is missing in the mind, all these efforts are in vain.

Hindu says ‘Mind is the sole cause of bondage (sufferings including deaths) and freedom(eternal bliss).’ How can cure be achieved if disease in stomach and medicine is put into eyes? It can give rise to another problem. Same thing happens. Divine medicine is required for mind. Senses are just the helpers in diverting mind to God. People are not aware that visualizing form of God is the most important.

All practice, which is devoid of form visualization, is like a corpse without soul. Dead body is food for dogs and hawks, in the same way mind away from God is eaten up by anger, sexual desire, jealousy, hypocrisy etc. Such devotion or worship is not capable of removing of mind’s problems. Since mind is not treated for its disease, the disease is on the rise.

Nonetheless, something is better than nothing. Such people may come across someone who could tell them to apply mind along with senses. In addition, the outwardly religious atmosphere helps many to be on target. Many people in India have acquired divine bliss. Since this atmosphere is missing in other countries, it is difficult to find people who are in search and are successful in attaining divine happiness in these countries. Therefore, it is said that to get birth in India is God’s grace.
