Many people claim that Gita says actions or deeds should be done; so we are doing actions. They further claim that doing actions is our duty and one must perform one’s duty. Let us see what Gita has to say about actions.

Gita classifies actions as actions(deeds), anti-actions(misdeeds), non-action(non performance of action with mind in God), augmented-actions (performance of actions with mind in God)

Gita says the outcome of actions, if done according to the scriptures, is heaven. Actions which are not according to scriptures are anti-actions and the outcome is hell. Whatever actions we do will judged by spiritual government on these lines. In most of the cases, in this age, the outcome is hell because nothing is done as per scriptures. Even if actions are performed as per scriptures, the outcome is heaven which is a fools choice. Because after completing the stint in heaven soul is thrown back in this world and that too in the inferior form of life other than human form.

‘I have nothing to achieve, yet I perform actions and you too should perform actions.’
‘Actions (deeds) are better than anti-actions(misdeeds).’
‘People imitate great people.’ ’I prefer augmented-actions to non-actions’

The reason is people cannot see inside of the mind. Non-actors do not perform any outwardly actions but they think of God all the time. Augmented-actors perform all outwardly actions and they think of God all the time. Both of them get eternal bliss on purification of heart. In both the cases, people will copy them outwardly. People have no capability of diverting mind to God. Their minds will be in the material world. Therefore imitator of non-actor will not do anything and will commit misdeeds in the process. This will take him to hell. But imitator of augmented-actor will do actions and will commit deeds in the process. This will take him to heaven. Although both heaven and hell are devoid of eternal bliss but heaven is better than hell for there are no bodily punishments in the heaven. From this point of view actions are better.

But ‘Actions should be performed with detachment’
And ‘Actions should be performed with mind engrossed in God.
Which means Krishn is not advising just actions but he is advising actions with mind fixed on God.

Thus message from Gita is loud and clear. Actions must be performed with mind in God to get never-ending experience of eternal bliss.
