The happiness associated with formless or with-form God makes the worldly happiness trivial and as unacceptable as cow dung would be in an eating plate. But when it comes to comparison between formless and with-form divine happiness, Hindu cites many examples where formless God holders desired for divine love bliss.

The person, who has attained divine bliss but still in this world, works without attachment and does all sorts of actions which a material person would do. There were four saints Sanak, Sanandana, Sanatana and Sanat kumara who attained formless God. Once they traveled to Lord Vishnu’s abode – Vaikunth. When they reached to him, the fragrance of Tulsi(a plant) leaves those were lying on the feet of God entered their nose and that fragrance was so ravishing that they yearned for the divine happiness that had form, fragrance and other attributes. The happiness of formless God which they had access to looked such a trifle. They then requested,’ Please bless us with the divine love bliss even if it means the stay in the hell. ’. That speaks for the quality of divine love. This is the first example that confirms the quality of divine love is far superior to the happiness of formless God.

Next is Uddhav.-a strong formless God holder. He was with Krishn. Krishn wanted to bless him with divine love for which he adopted a tortuous path. He told Uddhav ,’ Go to Vrindavan and give your knowledge to maids of Vrindavan. They love me and they are grieving so much that they don’t even eat food properly and they keep on weeping. You tell them about formless God, about his presence everywhere, about oneness of soul and God, about brevity of life so that they get detached from me and stop grieving.’

Uddhav went to Vrindavan. He said to Gopis, ‘What are you grieving for? Soul is God. God is not different from soul. When there are no two personalities, there cannot be any parting. Realize it. You should understand the formless God and that is the goal of human life. Don’t waste your precious life in grieving.’ Gopis said ,’Uddhav, if we had more than one mine, we could have applied your teaching to one. But mind is only one and it has gone with Krishn, where to get another mind that can think of your philosophy? If you say soul is God, why is this love? Because love needs two personalities. You say Krishn is God and that soul is God but you(soul) are different from Krishn(God) that is soul is different from God, then how can you claim soul is God?’ They gave many arguments in favor of love which Uddhav found difficult to counter, though he was scholar of all four ved. Seeing that Uddhav was reeling under the contradictions high lighted, Radha by her grace put the divine love into his heart. Uddav reached the state of highest ecstasy. On return, Uddhav requested Krishna to make him some leave , flower of some plant so that he could taste the love bliss forever.
