"Since Hinduism does not believe in the possibility of eternal punishment, wouldn't it make sense for people to manage their afterlife risk by betting against Hinduism and taking a long hard look at those religions or worldviews which do entertain that possibility?"
Let us try to understand concept of Hindu philosophy in short. You will find that the Hinduism deals with the basic motive of a living organism and treats human being as one of the family member having same traits as other living organisms. In fact Hindu sates that all souls are sons of one almighty God.
It states that the basic instinct for any life is to seek happiness. Everyone is only after his own happiness and not after anyone else’s happiness through out all his life, through the different activities.
In order to reason, "Why everyone should seek happiness and not anything else?" you need an introduction to classical Hindu Philosophy which states, "God is happiness and happiness is God. Happiness associated with God is Divine Happiness. Two important characteristic of divine happiness are - it is of infinite magnitude and that it never fades. It is eternal."
The philosophy further states, "Every living organism is composed of two sections. One is soul or spirit that is divine in essence; the other one is frame in which soul resides. This frame is made of flesh, bones, bloods and many others. The frame is collectively called as body. Body aims to satisfy soul through all its paraphernalia which consists of intellect to make decisions, mind to create desires and to experience all sorts of feelings including happiness for soul and five senses - eyes for seeing, ears for hearing, tongue for tasting and for speaking, skin for touching and nose for smelling and inhaling.
Because soul is divine in essence, it looks for infinite happiness through mind, for divinity is associated with God who is nothing but happiness infinite. While God is infinitely big , soul is an extremely minute having all properties similar to that of God. Although soul is similar to God, it is not God himself. It is neither originated from God nor is the constituent of God. It just emerges from God. It is a separate entity."
You will notice that Hinduism does not make any distinction based on religion, caste, nation and so on, while defining soul. Soul is any living entity and therefore, all living organisms are covered under this definition.
What you get in this life and after this life is governed by your own deeds, irrespective of religion and culture you belong to. Even to get birth in different religions and cultures is also governed by deeds.
The spiritual rules which are there are universal and they govern all souls. Whether you bet against Hinduism or not, you will be governed by those rules. Laws do not vanish just because someone refuses to acknowledge them. You will find it is true for scientific laws too. Scientific laws are in operation irrespective of refusal or non-refusal of their existence.
Not to acknowledge facts brings in trouble later, because correct solution cannot be worked out without knowing the facts. Therefore, to reduce the afterlife risks, study Hindu philosophy is essential. The reason being, Hindu religion believes in after life and moving of a soul through different species according to the deeds over which you have control right in this life. Hinduism thus helps reduction of after life risks because there are well-established rules that tell the direction which you could heading to.
