Brahma came out and said 'D', 'D', 'D' by looking at Human beings , demons and demigods turn by turn and went back.

All of them were puzzled to hear this one word lecture. They approached their respective masters. Demigods went to Brihaspati, Demons went to Shukrachary and human beings approached their masters.

Brihaspati said to demigods 'Brahma has advised you to exercise some control on senses. Heaven is full of easily available sensual pleasures which has made all of you lustful and addicted to such pleasure. Hence Brahma told you to lead a controlled life.. The Hindi word is "DAM" which means controlling senses.'

Shukrachary said to demons, 'Brahma has advised you to be kind. All of you have some powers and you wield those powers with cruelty. To kill others, to torment others is what you do and hence Brahma told you be kind and merciful. The Hindi word for mercy id "Dayaa"

Human beings were told 'You have great attachment to money. You seldom donate anything from what you earn. You either save your earning or spend it on yourself and your family. Brahma wants you to shed this stinginess and therefore he told you the word 'Daan' which means to donate'

One point must be borne in mind that the donation must end up in proper hands. Donations to wrong persons would fetch punishment because money can be used in constructive or destructive way. If your money is used in sinful ways by the beneficiary, you are inviting a great troble that too for donating. Hence before donating make sure that your money will be properly utilized.
